Adolescents and Children
Arts therapy is particularly useful for adolescents and children as there is no pressure to be able to explain what is going on in their world. Instead this can be expressed through art making. The art studio is a space where clients can be free to explore whatever is important to them. One of the most important parts of childhood and adolescence is the forming of identity. This is usually done in peer groups. Sometimes this process is interrupted because of trauma, disability, bullying and mental health issues. In these cases exploring identity can be done safely within a therapeutic relationship with an arts therapist.
